Chuck, I use something very similar, mine are made for jewelers so I've got three different strengths of magnification plus a built in light. I already had them since I make twisted wire jewelry, easy enough to start using them for coils Smile

So, I'm gonna start this post with a humble-brag... That coil on the bottom is perfect. The one on top makes me sad.

This is a 2x 26g fc with a twisted 34g wrap. Six wraps on a 2.5mm inner diameter brings this to 0.2 ohms. Flavor is spectacular, clouds are great. I've had better cloud chasing builds, but this seems to be an almost perfect build for me since I'm kind of a hybrid cloud/flavor chaser, and this is as close as I've come to a perfect medium between the two.

The problem is that when I was twisting the 34g wrap, I just twisted it until it broke, which I assumed would twist both strands the same amount. Not so. The first coil I built is the one in the bottom half of the pic, absolutely perfect with a very tight twist. The second time, it broke sooner and ended up not being as tightly twisted. Which I didn't notice until after I had claptoned it. Turns out this actually makes a small difference in resistance, so the top coil heats up just a little bit faster than the bottom one. Soon I'll try again and make sure they're twisted the same amount. But anyway I just wanted to show off, this is by far the best build I've ever done to date.

Chuck - you are welcome to come to Scotland and tie up every midge you can catch - they can make late summer and early autumn a misery. By the time you've tied up a few billion of them there might be a difference Smile

RE: How do you dip yer wick?
Hey Michael.. it's a faux pas making coil pairs from separate wires, they'll never be even. Make 10ft of the twisted, straighten about 18" of core wire then make both your coils from one fc wire.
You'll not need the full 10' but it gives you a little room for mistakes. Min you can use is 7' for the wrap on two coils.

RE: How do you dip yer wick?
Yeah, 10' sounds about right, I used two 6' strands for this and I had a bit more than I needed.
Thanks for the tip, I've thought about trying to do one long Clapton to make two coils but I don't have a spinner to hold the core steady so I haven't tried it yet. It's nigh impossible to wrap more than about 8" without support.
