I built it as described (but I was wrong on the gauge, I have 26 and 24 instead of 26 and 28). Vapes OK but doesn't seem an obvious upgrade to twisted 24g A1. Twisted the 26, wrapped it with regular 24, 5 wraps on the 3.0 Kuro. Ohm's at .13. Appreciate the build suggestion greatly but not really seeing anything special.

Never said it'd be special Tongue

With those gauges your stuck with parallel or twisted in only a handful of configurations.

Abstractly, you could Clapton the 24, declapton, then use two wraps of the declapton in macro.. it'll be no improvement on vape, but it'll look cool Good

I've never looked into what Clapton actually is, to be honest. The ones posted here do look sweet as hell, but I really don't know what it means, even though it's just a Google away.

Wrap the 26 tightly around the 24 so it looks like a guitar string.. then pull the 24 clean out the middle leaving a really long coil spring looking thing, then wrap springy thing twice round a 3mm bit. Its barking mad, but certainly differnt. If you do give it a go use plenty of fluffy cotton, not too tight. Or you can wick the spring then wrap it, it's hard as f* but looks awsome

got some 30g kanthal , is it feasible to build a fused clapton and stay above .4 ohms . thinking 2 strand core.

RE: How do you dip yer wick?
 A 30g 36g kanthal fc with 5-6 3mm wraps will be ~.4 and a nice vape.
 A 28g 36g kanthal fc with 7-8 3mm wraps will also be a .4
Bigger gauge core wires than 28 will need too many wraps to be feasible. Smaller gauge than 30 for the cores is really hard to pull off. I go down to 29g, any smaller and a single core works better.

What gauge are you going to use for the core? If you use 26ga, a 0.4 ohm single coil would take 5 wraps with a 3mm inner diameter. Using 24 ga, 0.4ohms would take 8 wraps. At least, that's what my coil calculator says.

The coils needed to make it dual coil would be massive, and it probably wouldn't vape very well since it would have a long ramp up time and it would be a nightmare to get the wicking just right. You'd be looking at 10 wraps if it was a 26ga core, 16 wraps with a 24ga core.

was planing to use 30 for the core , perhaps twisted

RE: How do you dip yer wick?
I always refer resistance as a dual coil setup, half the number of wraps I said for single Wink
