RE: How do you dip yer wick?
Update: this is probably the best flavor I've ever had from a coil I made. (Mike's Gentle Coils don't count since I didn't make them Tongue
I guess the next step is to make it with a thinner core and dual it. I'm thinking 26ga.

RE: How do you dip yer wick?
My first fused twisted was straight 26 cores 40 wrap and the vapour production matched the flavour, in ss I think it was around .12.

My gentle coils? The ones you had don't count because they were a kanthal clone Wink , now if you had my signature coils Spiteful ..

Well they're damn good anyway Tongue
I'm a little behind the times on mods, so kanthal and nichrome are all I can really use at high power (since my only TC mod is a single 18650 @ 70W max). I suppose I could use SS on my Sigelei since it has a 0.1 ohm minimum, but I'm holding out until I get a DNA 200 to buy a pair of your best Wink

Actually your coils are still going strong, I've cleaned and dry fired them every few days and they're still on one of my RDAs, they're not getting as much use right now since I'm trying my own coils and I have to use a tank while I'm driving for work so they're lasting quite a while Smile

RE: How do you dip yer wick?
I have a question based on my earlier request for a coil build. What would I gain from the parallel build you guys suggested?

I really need to get a spinner to attach the core to... I saw a video of somebody making Claptons using a vice with a spinner, so the core stays straight but still spins so you can wrap it. I've been trying to just use the drill and hold the core steady with my finger, but that's harder to do with fused Claptons.

An element of wicking from the coils.

Should give a bit better flavour too.

Parallel coils give you lower resistance, while maximizing surface area. It essentially turns a dual coil into a quad, since it halves the resistance.

How about twisting the 26 and wrapping it with a straight up 28 instead of the vise-versa suggested?

RE: How do you dip yer wick?
Twisted 26 will have a lower resistance than twisted 28, and much lower than a normal strand of 28, so if you run twisted 26 parallel with 28 the twisted wire will heat up faster than the 28 because electricity follows the path of least resistance, the strand of 28 probably won't do much.

RE: How do you dip yer wick?
The 28 has greater thermal efficiency and resistance, it'll heat up alright.
It has a smaller radius and will produce less vapour, twisting it will double it's displacement while giving it a vein to collect juice. It'll also heat at a nice rate along with the 26
If you want to twist the 26 you could run the 28 down the veins created by the twist.. hard to do, but satisfying when you glow it Wink
