RE: How do you dip yer wick?
Lol that's not me, just a video I found. Tongue

Though I am a guitar player. But dueling banjos is a bit above my pay grade, I can get through the first few bars but never taught myself the whole song as it's a really tough one.

I'm considering making a stapled helix using 26/32 Claptons instead of the twisted outer wire, which should theoretically raise the resistance just a bit while keeping flavor intact... Any thoughts on this one?

I'm not a single coil guy, I've made one or two framed style coils, I find them too hot for cloud chasing but great on flavour. If you get a chance look for the staple staggered fc coil, think it's squid doode.. that's a really great coil build.

Im tempted to try just the staple coil, I think it could be done dual with .4.1 kanthal ribbon 38g wrap in 5 3.2mm wraps to come out ~ .09-.13.. that would be a very good all round set up for flavour and vapour.

That sounds like it'd definitely be worth trying, Mike. I'm not too concerned with cloud chasing at the moment, if I want to blow big clouds I'll just put deal parallel 24ga on a 3mm post and crank it up to 100W. My builds lately are going for the best massive flavor I can get, and also trying to look cool and if possible invent something new that no one has thought of (or at least something that doesn't have a build video on YouTube).

Tel me about it! All the parallels, twisteds, and wraps are spoken for.. you'll need to be creative.
I mostly just developed the ideas with different gauges and materials, with a bit of perseverance I normally get some good results.
I also like to manipulate the wire by rolling or flattening it. I'm playing with a flattened twisted 28g wrapped like your helix but in a staple configuration atm, will let you know how that goes.. non of them on yt yet Smile

RE: How do you dip yer wick?
I'm thinking about making a fused Clapton, using several strands of ribbon wire stacked for the core, then twisted 40ga for the wrap. Kind of like the stapled helix crossed with a Clapton. Not sure if that's a thing already. Should be great for flavor though. I wonder if I'd need to stack the ribbon vertically like the stapled helix, or if it would be ok just stacked flat. I might need to use a thinner ribbon to make that work, like maybe 5 strands of 0.3x0.1 so its largest dimension would be its width rather than its height. That would make it easier to wrap while keeping the ribbon vertical without having the twisted wire like the stapled helix.
Does any of that make sense, or am I just making up words?

The words did turn into blah blah blah half way through haha. If your only using ribbon wrapped then it's a staple.
Think I get it. Stacking ribbon.. it has to be vertical 90° from the cotton so each of the leaves are sticking up or the outer layers get dry, done vertically it, in theory, capillaries

I just made this. 38ga twisted, Clapton around 24ga core.

RE: How do you dip yer wick?
I found that if the wrap is too thick it tends to dry hit. I'd guess that the wrap holds the juice in the twist rather than against the coil.
I trialed thicker gauge in 36 so that one in 38 might work out OK mikeyboy. Good3

Cool design.. how did you come up with that? Tongue

Now I need something kickass to post up, luckily I have just the thing planned Wink
