Yessir, I flattened the twisted a bit by running a pair of pliers along their length while running the drill. I saw someone do it on a build vid and I thought it would help with using the twisted as a core since it makes it have less variation in diameter when it's flattened. It worked a bit, but I think the small gauge of the white made it hard to flatten, I'm gonna try again with 26ga zipper core sometime.

RE: How do you dip yer wick?
Hi, my name is Michael and I'm an addict.

This is my first attempt at a stapled helix. Two strands of 26ga twisted, framing five pieces of 0.6x0.1mm, with 30ga wrapped around. Single coil comes out to around 0.1 ohms, just barely high enough to fire on my Sigelei.
At this point, I'm just making coils for the sake of how pretty they look. This is supposed to be a great one for flavor, I haven't wicked it yet so we'll see about that but honestly it's more like "can I actually do that?"

RE: How do you dip yer wick?
Thanks, mate! It was a PITA to build, partly because I made it from memory. Lol I watched a build video a few days ago and today I decided to try and make one, took quite a while but in the end it turned out pretty good. If you want to make one I'd suggest googling "Stapled Helix Ohmboy" and watch the first result, I think the guy's name is OhmBoy10 or something like that, but he goes really in depth showing exactly how to do it. I used different gouges than his since it was what I had on hand, and again, just doing it from memory so I forgot what all he used.

Fair play! I quite like ohm boy and squid doode.
Think this is one of theirs.. stitched fused I think it was called.
I make mine much finer than theirs so I can use them dual, and because the ramp up is way faster

RE: How do you dip yer wick?
That looks awesome, Mike! Here's my most recent:

That's two strands of 26/32 Clapton, two strands of 26 twisted, all four strands twisted together. The finished wire is about 2.5mm thick. I actually made this several days ago but I wasn't able to put it in an RDA since it was so massive. Yesterday I bought a Phenotype-L RDA which is a dual-post with 3mm post holes, just enough to fit this monster.

Came out to 0.12 ohms of pure flavor. Basically this whole thing is one big metal wick. Definitely not an all-day, everyday build at that low resistance, but it was definitely worth making. I actually used pre-made Clapton wire for this one, got a 15' roll of UD 26/32 for $5, so all I had to do for this was twist the 26ga then twist it all together.
