I was talking about this before, with Bob I think. Some shops, too many now, buy pre-made coils in bulk from China,  problem is that China can churn out tens of thousands a day.. I'd be lucky to do hundred. They don't intend to use them so the 'formula' they have for making them isn't anything like what I would use.

The coils in the mod I sent over to you chuck are a slightly higher resistance version of the ones pictured in my sale thread they'll be something of a departure from what you've had before so I hop you like them.

RE: How do you dip yer wick?
I have these conversations all the time. Now you have seen an example of my coils Mike. Arguably yours are even better but there are a lot of vendors selling pre-made coils that are really not up to scratch on a box mech mod. You need to design your coils for the mod and for the RDA/RTA you are using. Not all my coils are claptons. I use parrallel SS if I am putting them in certain RTAs. I'll use quad twisted in others, aliens in some tiger coils also. I just sent you a spool of pre-made clapton wire - I use it in some RTAs to build vertical coils macro. Saves me some time.

Now there are some very good pre-made coils too. Not all the companies produce 'formula' coils. But the really good pre-made are quite expensive. I make a a box of pre-made for my local B+M which has about five different types of coils. He sells them for 25 Can. There are 7 pair per box. They are not fantastic but they are IMHO pretty darn good and they sell out. I just don't have the time to make that many. And I love your coils Mike. I'm a fan.

People think it takes no tiome at all to build coils. They use their little jigs and make some and think that is all there is to it. Whatever. My eyes are starting to go now. I have developed cataracts so I don't build like I used to. Thankfully I have good friends all over the world who help me out. I'm also trying to reduce my collection of mods and attys. I just have way too much gear. You guys know the drill. We start out buying everything and then after a year or two we have so much stuff. I've been vaping with my son now way too long. I have way too much between us. And I still cannot resist something different ( had to try the Cricket and had to get a mini-volt). I'm rambling now  - best stop.

Was bored today and so made these... It's 0.8x0.1mm ribbon twisted with 26ga, parallel with a 24/38 clapton. I have absolutely no idea how it'll vape, I made a pair of them but haven't installed them in an RDA yet. I really need some new RDAs to play around with Tongue

Really want to show off mine..

Parallels are cool looking coils Good both of those are notorious flavour producers so it should be a tasty combo!

It may not look super pretty, but there's a good reason: this is a fused Clapton with a flattened zipper core. You wouldn't believe how hard it is to get a fused Clapton wrapped evenly around twisted wire. Made a zipper coil with 30ga, wrapped with 34ga. Totals 0.4 ohms single coil. Flavor is good, though honestly probably not quite as good as Mike's fused Claptons, which could be a result of my lack of experience or possibly just the twisted core not being such a great idea. Still, it's better than a normal coil so it's worth it to me. Maybe with a bit more practice Tongue

Oh, and the twisted/Clapton parallel was a bust. I couldn't get it to heat evenly, I think it was the twisted ribbon to blame.
