WOW Jerryz - please please tell me where you buy your coils.lol

Not sure. I'm not a chain vaper, I guess maybe I don't use them as much as I think I do, but i do use them regularly.

RE: How do you dip yer wick?
Just wanted to show off my sexy coil, this is probably the closest to a perfect coil I've ever made. It's in a Phoenix RDA clone, I like to use the little guy when I'm trying out new flavors. Today I'm testing a couple NETs from Finster.

That is a thing of beauty. Good Is that by hand or do you have a coil jig?

I use this tool to get the right diameter, but it's really about like doing it by hand around a drill bit, since the tool just gives me the right diameter and doesn't actually wrap the wire for me.

In that case..Outstanding job. I use this kit. Really makes nice coils.

That one works well (up to 22ga Kanthal) till you try to use it with 0.5mm (?24G) titanium wire.

No worky...

No work with nickel wire either.

But works incredibly well with Kanthal.

I agree. Not hearing good things about Nickel wire, so I tend to stay away from it. I have 20 gauge kanthal, and the jig works. A little stiif on the wrapping, but it works.

RE: How do you dip yer wick?
Nickel for me is a huge no-no. Titanium has its issues but is IMO safer. I have used nickel coils (About ten puffs)  - but have no desire to continue using them.

But it can fail catastrophically. And if the coils turn white - toss them and make some more.

I'd not use titanium wire in any atty where juice can spit on your tongue - if the coils fail catastrophically (Which is rare but can happen) I'd prefer not to have a metal fire on my tongue.

However, my opinion is not evidence based - it just lies on my experience of nickel in the days when I was a chemist 30 years ago. If there was any alternative to using nickel or its compounds then the alternative got used.

Nickel tetracarbonyl is evil.

Fortunately little or none of it is likely to be formed under normal vaping conditions with temperature control. If you don't have TC, don't even hallucinate about using nickel wire - Nickel has some interesting and unusual ways of making you suffer - or in extreme cases, die.

I'd never use titanium wire in a non temperature controlled mod either. Titanium dioxide (Which is the white pigment in white paint) is allegedly carcinogenic. So why has every painter in the world not died of lung cancer? Nevertheless - it is probably best not to inhale nanoparticles of it.

Both of them - if there is any discolouration in the coils, it is time to make new ones. Seriously!

The only nickel wire that I have been using came with my TC Joytech eVic because of the temp control. I have no intent of replacing it. I would rather watt vape anyway if it means not using Ni or Ti. I hear tell that nickel tends to seep. Bad

That's the whole reason I haven't tried temp control yet. I know in theory since it controls the temperature you're supposed to be safe, but it's just too iffy for me. To use a common expression, it feels like playing with fire, eventually someone is gonna get burned.
