I've had the Joules higher yes. I guess the main goal is to maximize cell longevity.

Same coil thinner wire would work. You can also raise resistance by twisting your core ss with kanthal.. you'll need to tweak the tcr but you could effectively use 1/2-2/3 the amount of wraps.

Isn't the coil the same twisted you always use?

Yes, and it's always acted the same. I don't want to use A1 because I don't trust the TC enough to work accurately.

I have 26g and 28g SS316 I can use for the core if needed.

Tc will work with a good tcr value. Check on steamengine, I'm sure there's info on mixed coils.
Only other option is multiple twisting your clapton wire and use it for core wire instead of a wrap or just a single 26g core. the twisted is as high as you'll get a dual core.

Yes, about that single core... I tried that with a single core, but the outer core just slid off when I tried to wrap it. How do you get the outer wrap to hold onto a single non-twisted core wire?

Tightly fold both ends of the full length of wire then wrap your coils Wink

Simple, painfully obvious, and effective.

RE: How do you dip yer wick?
OK, so I made a new coil. What is it called...

It is 28/40, two strands of inner together. The wire is flat like a lot of the ones I see around here.

It vapes way better than the TW Clapton, likely because the core is 28g instead of 26. 10 wraps, SS316, 3.5M ID. Ohm's for the pair is .32. Really like this one a lot!! And not hard to make at all.

If it's tight enough it won't slide. But if it is a bit loose, just fold about an 1/8" over on the ends and crimp it with pliers.
