RE: How do you dip yer wick?
Hi Michael - That is a wonderful coil - and being able to vape at 8W is even lower than me. I am proud of you. My coils are a lot nicer looking than yours - I am going to have to try harder with mine. You have set a new standard for MTL - I am going to have to raise my game a great deal - well done[Image: smile.gif].

With those type I put a tight sized drill bit down the hole and wrap it in situ Wink silica? Cotton all the way! You could do a dual coil on that, just leave the fill hole screw out to act as prv

RE: How do you dip yer wick?
Silica wick is old school, man. It's hard to stuff the cotton down in there, and I wanted to try my hand at "authentic" "classic" whatever. Back then a lot of people used silica wick instead of ss mesh since it's easier to work with. Hey, I'm just here to give the new coil makers hope, if I can make killer coils like in my signature pic and still make one that looks that bad on a Genny, I think everyone has some hope. It's just practice, practice, practice. Maybe someday I'll make a nice coil for my poor genny. But it is not this day.

Ok, you want the oldskool feel.. try several not too tightly twisted strands of ss or kanthal, essentially a 'rope' wire instead of mesh or silica. Still oldskool but much easier to do than wrapping silica. Just glow about 8" of wire, cut it into short pieces, quick hand twist and wrap it the same as you did with the silica.

when i was using silica in mt TS3 rebuilds i used a common pin to keep things neat , run throug center of the silica . wrap tight then pull the pin . careful it can be a tad stabby .

That's crazy! So crazy, it just might work...

(Bonus points if anyone knows what movie I'm quoting with that)

So basically, I'm looking to make one of those cords that hold up suspension bridges, but on a smaller scale? Like maybe 5-6 strands of 34ga SS, twisted not super tight, and then torch it with a lighter or something I guess? Or I suppose I could just put it in an atty without coiling it and dry fire at high wattage to oxidize the wire. Does that sound like something that could potentially work? And it wouldn't mess anything up to have it be touching the atty near the juice hole, since it'd be oxidized right?

RE: How do you dip yer wick?
People used ss rope wicks since the early gennys. Yeah it works! You'll need several strands, the more the better. To get around 2mm you'll need at least *insert math here* amount Tongue I used to dry burn short lengths but you could torch it I guess.

As for the film.. it's a phrase that been in loads! Even Google can't tell me the origin.Wacko

RE: How do you dip yer wick?
Gently, I was going to say that phrase has probably been used in about 64% of all movies ever made. So by default, Chuck is probably right.

A random fyi

Came across a novel idea for swivels earlier, a bath plug chain actually works as well as several swivels do. Good
