Haha thanks mate, I've become a bit of a perfectionist with my coils so to me they're rarely "good enough."

Now ecig has put it out there.. if your struggling to get a twist out of an fc,, while its still in its full length go over it with a hard rolling pin against a hard surface. When you come to wrap it they all fall in line much easier Wink

Coils looks fine to me though, I've ended up with worse.

RE: How do you dip yer wick?
If I were ever to make such coils (Not happening in my universe), I'd be glad of the tip.

Spinning up a standard micro coil is the limit of my skills.

Don't for a second believe that this is due to anything other than my utter lack of skills Smile

Not that I can't appreciate the works of wire art.

I just can't emulate them.

And am too cheap to buy them Smile

Thanks mate, unfortunately in this case I didn't notice the kink until I was halfway done wrapping it and didn't feel like taking it all off. It looked a bit worse before dry firing, as you can see at the top right there's a gap in the coil where there shouldn't be. But it looks fine and vapes great, I can't believe I never tried mixed core FCs before now. Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems like it's ramping up faster.

I've vaped on worse looking coils. Of course mine are CLEANER, lol. Mixed core FCs rock. If you want really fast ramp up use Nichrome and SS. You need to take your Bic and heat up the N80 first though. I've even used all N80 ... SS fused claptons (core and wrap) are just too damn angry even for me.

RE: How do you dip yer wick?
Be kind. So I finally managed to matching coils into posts and fire up. However, one glows hot, the other ramps up slower and does burn as hot. What have I done wrong this time? Kathal A1 26g, 2mm, 6 wraps

Watch a few more build videos - seems like you need to pinch the coil some more - strut it with a screwdriver - I have no idea scientifically why it works - but it does.... Smile What did you build?

I was working with the Haze deck TW gave me. I was shooting for .35 and got close. Good thing I got ceramic tweezers. The cheap coil jig kit is a pain to use. I think I'll need to reevaluate my tools. So far I'm really disliking coil building. I don't seem to have a feeling for it.

RE: How do you dip yer wick?
Sounds to me like one coil is slightly higher resistance than the other. Could be from the coil expanding slightly when you wrapped it, or maybe the legs are slightly longer on one side. Easiest easy to fix it is to unscrew the screw a bit and push the coil further into the post hole just a bit. But it's not a huge deal, I usually don't worry about it if that happens to me.

I started wrapping using a screwdriver, then when I visited one of the local shop they had a few different jigs - tried each one there and was more confused than I thought was possible - left them there and returned to using a screwdriver - check your local dollar store - they have different cheap screwdrivers with different core width. My preferred screwdriver is a 3.25mm rubber handled Phillips...don't give up - have you considered asking hubby to assist? May be a way to get him into it, indirectly. Smile
