RE: Homebrew anyone?
I've brewed a little at home. I've done a couple batches with a Mr. Beer kit. I added a little brown sugar to an Irish Red kit and it turned out pretty good.  I also try to make a batch of hard cider in the fall and I've done one batch of wine. The hard cider and wine are done in used food grade buckets from a local doughnut shop.

RE: Homebrew anyone?
Have it in the fridge cold crashing since about 11am. At about 9pm I tried probably 3 oz of it... Its got the honey aroma that I wanted, with out being sweet really. I want to try to cold crash it for at least 24 hours, but I may let it stay in there until next week. But after I bottle it, I still have another 2 weeks at least. I am hoping the flavor does not change too much in that time.
Tasting it today, I would say its probably right around 6-7%. I will have to get a hydrometer before I brew my next batch so I can actually calculate the alcohol content of it.

This experiment (so far) was a success. Next time I will add blueberries and hopefully I will get the same honey aroma with a slight hint of the blueberry to it

Next time I am also going with a different HME to start with. If I end up with something great, maybe I will ship Johnny a bottle to review Big Grin

You can always test it by knocking back 12 of them real quick and gauging your own reaction. Wink

[Image: homebrew10gal_zps701084d7.jpg]Good luck with your beer, I like beers that have a honey flavor in them and hope it works out for you.

Here's my buddies setup I help him out here and there and mainly I am a "Home Brew Master Tester"

He has been to numerous competitions and actually placed 2nd overall in the last one with one of my favorite beers.

He has a new one to take to the next competition that is probably going to be even better than the one that won with.

RE: Homebrew anyone?
WOW! That is quite the setup your buddy has got! I will do a few more batches with my Mr Beer kit, then I think I will go to 5g water jugs for my fermenting.

he has been doing the home brew thing for 15+ years now he just finished building this setup 6 months ago and is still tweeking it in.

He went from a 5 gallon batch to this setup which is 10 gallons.  Its pretty sweet he is working on doing a little more automation that way it will keep the temp more constant.  They probably brew around 250 gallons a year when they had the 5 gallon setup.  No telling how much it will be this year.  I would have to guess somewhere in the 350 gallon range.

RE: Homebrew anyone?
With my 2g keg, I'd be pushing it to do 50g of brew in a year. I let this batch ferment for 15 days, but future batches I would like to do 3 weeks or more.
The 2g keg is good for experimenting, like I'm doing now, but once I get a good recipe going, 2g every 5 weeks isn't going to cut it.
