Hi from Colorado
I'm completely new to vaping.  I was desperate to quit smoking cigarettes, so I went the super simple route and bought a NJOY vape pen.  That was three days ago, and I have to say it's been a blessing.  I haven't even wanted a cigarette and am really enjoying vaping.  Being new, I am completely confused by most of the threads I've read on here (it's like another language to me and a bit overwhelming), but I am looking for a place to ask questions/feel like part of a community.  I was on a quit smoking forum for quite a while, but saying that you had switched to vaping lead to a lot of people telling me I hadn't actually quit smoking and that I was fooling myself.  Doesn't make sense to me, since the main ingredient, and to me the most dangerous part of smoking (SMOKE) is off the table when you start vaping.

Anyway - Hello!

RE: Hi from Colorado
Welcome! Yes, those that say it's a lateral trade off are not properly educated about vaping vs. smoking. Very different disciplines.

I was exactly you not too long ago. I was quite overwhelmed when I first started vaping. I had no knowledge of it at all, and bought a setup without knowing a thing about the whole process. Don't worry. In time it will become a lot more clear and you'll catch on quick. Ask away. Reading is one thing, but specific answers to your own questions are totally another thing.

RE: Hi from Colorado
Welcome to the forum Janis. This is the best place to ask questions I've ever found. May I suggest you check out the FAQ Section. The Vaping Glossary is a great place to start. I had to read it several times to keep up with the threads.

Congratulations on stopping smoking. It took about three weeks of vaping before I gave up my last cig, so you are doing great. This forum is a great place not only to learn, but be a part of supportive community as most of us are former smokers.

RE: Hi from Colorado
Hi Janis - it can be quite daunting at first with all the different equipment, the different modes of vaping and all that goes with that. Best thing to do is start at the beginning and slowly work through the things you want to know - then ask here - we are all ready to help. You will get encouragement, help, advice - in fact anything that crops up we will try to help. Remember we all started at the beginning so most anything that might crop up someone will have experienced it - welcome to the forum and enjoy the fun as well[Image: smile.gif].

RE: Hi from Colorado
Hey Janis, it's been two months for me and I already understand about half the things I read on here Yahoo Two months without a cigarette and I don't miss them, I'd rather vape at this point. I've come to realize that vaping is misunderstood by a lot of people. My understanding is that smoke is a mix of solid, gas, and liquid particles, while vapour is only liquid and gas, and the solid particles cause the problems. Putting anything but air in to your lungs is not healthy, but anyone who has made the switch will tell you that vaping doesn't mess you up like smoking does. As far as quitting goes, I've tried everything but patches and it's the habit of smoking that's hard for me to break, not so much the actual chemical dependence, so vaping is the only thing that's helped.

RE: Hi from Colorado
Welcome to TVF Janis.

This is unlike any other forum. As others have already stated, read the different threads, ask questions and enjoy. We have all been there as newbies.

7+ months for me and I still ask questions. CONGRATS on making the decision to (a) give up the cigs and (b) joining the forum! That's TWO good recent decisions so far! Smile

RE: Hi from Colorado
Welcome to the forum! Like everyone else said, we really enjoy helping people here so if you have any questions feel free to ask! We firmly believe that the only stupid question is the one that isn't answered because it isn't asked. Congratulations on deciding to quit smoking, it's not always an easy road but you can do it Smile

Hey janis, welcome.

Nope, you certainly aren't smoking, and that's a very good thing!
Don't worry about the lingo, like others have said, just ask about what you want to know Good
