Herbert's first review. The IPV Revo mod and Holic atty
Just spent ages writing (well mostly copying and pasting) Herbert's review.

The loot haul today - well it was yesterday but it wouldn't fit in my letterbox so I took the red card to the PO (Which is between my house and my work so is hugely convenient) and got the package. This is what was in it.

Some time later after I got home.
Some people like box shots...

The mod: Front
[Image: 50274904413_5c149025d0_b.jpg]

Back - it's a 6ml tank. Manual squonking is not an option - the tank is hard plastic and would break rather than squidge.

Battery compartment. The door seems robust which I believe has been an issue with some IPV mods. The hinge is sprung.

I appear to have forgotten to take a pic of the top. Ah well.

Stuck a pair of 18650s in it and here is the boot screen.

I've not yet read the instructions but it's time to throw an atty on it. The Holic looks like it'll do the job so I swap the solid pain for a BF pin. This is of typical Vapefly quality and comes with lots of spares. And the T shaped screwdriver - pity one of the three wasn't a hex driver for the coil screw instead of a fairly useless narrow flat head driver. You know, a normal screwdriver head. It has a wide one and a narrow one and a Philips/Posidriv head which does fit the squonk pin to screw it in nicely.

The typically nice Vapefly packaging.

And here it is...

The bare atty in place. The hex head grub screws hold the coil in, the flat head ones control the side airflow. You get a spare set that may have different sized holes in them. I've not pulled out the ones that came with it to see.

The coils provided - this is a single coil only MTL device. They say 1 ohm but read at 0.84ohms.

The coil installed. It may just be me but it seemed a little more fiddly than I remember but since I very rarely replace coils these days (but replace cotton often) this is no biggie. There are far worse things to install coils in - Big Fogger I'm hating on you! Since I was using the supplied "1 ohm" Ni80 coils I didn't have my coiling tools to hand so used the aiglet from the supplied Firebolt cotton (You get two fox tails of it that'll wick 4 times.) to set the coil height. The little grooves to set the coil height are AFAIK unique to Vapefly and are a brilliant idea that every manufacturer ought to copy. I was determined to set it up with just the supplied bits and bobs but had to go dig out my building kit for the cotton cutting scissors and the wire cutters. I just noticed that there are airflow markings on the "posts" beside the airflow screws. You can see those markings quite clearly in this photo. I had just eyeballed them wide open before I installed the coil. Another neat Vapefly feature.

With Firebolt cotton I always pull it most of the way through as there's more than enough for the next rewicking.

Trimmed and tidied up. You could - and quite possibly should - use less but I used more because of the auto-squonk feature. I did juice up the coil before firing it though.

Set up some vaguely useful looking settings. I may well read the manual next. Yes Eddie - it does do 0.1W steps but probably not above 100W.

Filled the tank with some 6mg Just Jam juice as that was the nearest bottle.

So how does it vape?

Very nicely if you ask me. I had to back it down to around 17W as at 18-20 the vape with the airflow I'd set was a little too hot for my taste. Around 17W just the way I like it.

The auto squonk - whose settings I've yet to read the manual to find out about - pulses around once a second and it hasn't yet dribbled or leaked on me. That said, I've spent more time photographing and typing than vaping on this. For me, it needed turning up (approximately double) so as not to dry out the cotton and end up vaping cotton smoke (Which is not nice). Here's what the manual has to say about auto-squonking. This is a straight quote - the stuff in brackets is mine.
"10. Spray or withdraw liquid. After startup, lower left corner of screen shows speed rate of liquid auto-spraying or withdrawing. Press S2 (That's the joystick thingy) up and down to set value ranging 0-49s; Push S2 right for over 3s to enter the interface of liquid auto-spraying or withdrawing (Except it doesn't). Press S2 to lock value, then press up and down to set the time ranging from 2-60s for auto spraying or withdrawing, press S2 to save setting. Then press fire button back to main interface."

Not the best description ever but doubling the random number seemed to work and not over squonk. What I think the second part is doing is sucking back the juice. But I'm not sure and the manual such as it is is less than helpful here.

The mod will charge via USB. It'll take 2A at 5V if your USB power supply can handle that. Of course, this really isn't recommended. Once it finishes topping off the cells, I'll check what their actual voltages are. Don't use USB for charging! This is the only time I'll do it on this mod. The only mods I am aware of that will properly balance charge two cells are the various DNA chipset mods. Since the batteries were very lightly used - about 60 seconds of firing time since fully charging, they came off at the same voltage. I will check once I've run the batteries down what voltages they are at - it is unlikely to be the same between the two. Over time and charging via the USB socket this imbalance can grow and Bad Things can happen. So pull the cells and put them in a proper charger.

Really, really don't charge via USB!

RE: Herbert's first review.
Hi Herbert - these things happen and it is annoying. I am sure as you get more experience of it you will do it quicker and better. It is good to have you here - keep up the good work.

Sorted now after having to assist with the evacuation of our most locked ward as the fire alarm had gone off.

I'll need to set Herbert up with his own login.

Saves me having to do the posting for him.

What do you think Herbert should review next?

I have quite a lot of mods and atties knocking about.

How about a review of a long term squonker you have - as a testament to its long lasting quality.

VT Inbox?

RSQ?

Topside Dual?

The custom DNA awaits a battery transplant which won't be easy. I will take pics and/or video it. Once it's sorted it'd be an option.
