Hello!
I am new to vaping (relatively).  I quit smoking 36 days ago after a pack a day for over 25 years.  I tried literally everything before vaping - patches, gum (both), acupuncture, therapy, cold turkey - nothing worked for more than a week or so.  Most people said it was lack of will power, or that I just wasn't ready or didn't want to quit.  That may have been true in part.  I did decide it was time this time, but I also planned ahead, saved up some money, talked to a really good friend who had successfully quit via vaping and finally got up the courage to really do it.  And it worked (or is working)!  I have had a craving or two (mostly while drinking wine), but nothing compared to what derailed me in the past.  I can honestly say I never want to smoke another cigarette for the rest of my life.  My Provari P3 with a Kabuki tank was not cheap, but it has already paid for itself.  I am a little juice obsessed at this point so not totally in the black yet, but I will be within the next month.  Then my $25/week juice and atty habit will be a lot less than my $75/week cig habit.  The other benefits are huge as well.  I feel 5 years younger already, I don't stink anymore, my wife is both relieved and very happy that I quit, I have more confidence and I even carry myself differently according to her.  Listen, I know it is still nicotine.  I haven't kicked my addiction and I get that, but this is a way healthier way to deal with it and I plan on reducing my nicotine level from 12 to 6 to 3 and eventually 0 as I go (when I am ready to step down).
I applaud all those who have taken this route and I look forward to interacting with you.  For anyone thinking about this method for smoking cessation, I have only one thing to say - If I can do it, so can you!

Peace to all.
Chris

RE: Hello!
Hi banger - welcome to the forum. Keep up the good work, you have a good set-up there so no excuses[Image: smile.gif]. Don't drop the nic. too quickly - it will not do you any harm like the tars and other crap in cigs. You will get plenty encouragement here and all the help you may need so keep in touch and the best of luck. The tank you have will take the new 1.8ohm Clapton and the 1.2ohm cotton coils as well as the standard Nautilus ones so you have a good choice.

RE: Hello!
Welcome! And don't fret the nicotine; that is not the part of a cigarette that makes them dangerous. Don't sweat that part.

If you're anything like most of us, your cost savings will begin to evaporate as you transition from smoking cessation to hobby with this. There is a whole lot involved with this hobby and you can take it as far as you want.

RE: Hello!
Welcome to the forum, mate! And congrats on kicking the cancer sticks. We've got a great post somewhere on here about nicotine, but basically like the other guys said, it's not what's harmful in cigarettes so don't worry about feeling like you need to drop it unless you just want to for your own reasons. Most of us still use some nicotine, personally I enjoy having a stronger vape when I'm stressed, after all that's why I started smoking in the first place, but of course if you want to completely quit nicotine that's good too.

The important thing is that you aren't slowly killing yourself anymore, and so have fun and let us know how you get on with it! Smile

RE: Hello!
I am definitely not going to reduce my nicotine for a good long while... since it is the 1000 or more chemicals/carcinogens in cigarettes that do the real damage.  Right now I am just enjoying the freedom, the feeling better about myself and better physically than I have felt in years.  It is so great that this forum exists and that there are such great people on it!  I could see this becoming a bit of an obsession for me, however.  There is so much to learn, so many juices to try, building your own, etc. But I would rather spend time and money on something healthier, cooler and more creative than my old habit any day.
Cheers to you all and I hope to have more to contribute than just my own story in the near future!
