Those are Infineon mosfets and appear to have been discontinued.

They're available here, actually all of it is. They're also know as
 IPP80P03P4L-04
IPP80P03P4L-04-ND
SP000396390
Though I'd want the TO220 version.

Does the company you mentioned take PayPal? Everywhere else I've tried doesnt Sad even Farnell.. thats where we got the box if I remember correctly.

RE: Gentle mod #2
When I checked Digikey earlier they said they had none and a 14 week lead time if you ordered a few thousand of them. It may have been a US site though.

The rest you can get from Maplin. I think I have suitable resistors lying around if 1/8W is adequate. I think they aren't in the heavy current path so they should be fine.

The ceramic capacitor is a big bugger - biggest Maplin has is 0.22 microfarads or a hundredth of the value needed. This one should do the trick and is 77p. However, it is a surface-mount device which may be a PITA. I reckon 16V should be plenty of voltage overhead.

You are looking at a bit over a fiver for the mosfets and the capacitor - I'll take a look at the diagram and dig out some resistors to suit. I bought a pack of a couple of thousand of the things a few years ago.

Cool. I don't know whether to wait 'til the end of the month and order from digikey, over £40 and I get free delivery. I'd have enough parts left over for another few mods.

Don't bother with resistors - I'm pretty sure I have any value you might need.

RE: Gentle mod #2
Cool, cheers Don.
This was the capacitor I was recommended, though I prefer your one. As it stands I can't see a way around the fact that I'll be making a rudimentary board of sorts, something square sided might be just the ticket.

Surface mount components tend to be tiny - as in you can lose them under grains of rice. I was looking for things with legs as they are easier to wire up unless you are a robot soldering station. But given that they had something like 8500 of the things on offer and they obviously thought I wanted surface mount components.....

You obviously looked farther down the list.

Any news Mike?

Like I could do what you do...

Must bundle up a bunch of resistors and post them your way.

RE: Gentle mod #2
It's on the to do list.. if I could sneak a few quid past the missus I'd buy the bits. I'm doing the whole 'saving' bit so I can get another car, which basically means I spend all my money on largely needless crap for the family while getting nothing for myself Dodgy
