Gentle mod #2
After enjoying making my first box mod I just have to try my hand at a lipo mod follow up. More power with better battery life, I mean what's not to like about that? Smile

This time around I've bought a pre-made box, anticlimactic I know, but given the timescale of the last build and the lack of actual workable hours I can put in to a new one its the only sensible way to go.
So what am I planning I hear you cry.. well, big and powerful!!.. 40mm atty capable, powered by a 5800mah 1s 60c discharge lipo battery, it'll be non regulated using a modman display, touch sensitive switch, master switch and on board 1.1 or 2a capible charging port.
The touch switch may or may not fit the way I'd hoped so it could end up using a tactile switch like on most factory mods.
Majority of my parts have already arived so I'll update this with some pics tomorrow.

I'd also like to thank Don at this point for his unbridled help and kindness, as without him I'd still be scratching round for parts right now. Cheers Don, I owe you one! DrinksFriends

Looks awesome, Mike!

One question. Any reason you went with a 1s pack instead of a multi-cell pack? I don't see any reason for one being better than the other, just curious if there's a reason or just cost or something else.

RE: Gentle mod #2
It was Dons battery, blame him Tongue

Any amount of parallel will still be 4.2v, series seem to start at 7.4v. It means my coils would have to change dramatically to cope with the power hike.
Yeah, and the cost.. the box alone cost more than some 200w devices, any series lipo of the same mah would too. You could buy three 200w devices for what the parts to a single box mod would cost!

Going fully stealth with this one paul, though there's always the rattle can option Wink

RE: Gentle mod #2
Eager beaver! Haha

Nope, I don't work Saturdays any longer. There's also still some key components left to source.. I need a resistor for the switches Vin, fet or pnp for Vo boost (they're both 3v 0.3a), a master switch, black polycarbonate 3×40mm disk, 9mm tactile button cap and prolly a few more small bits n bobs.

If anyone knows the values of the resistor and pnp, maybe a part number?? I'd be greatful. Doing math really isn't my strong suit Confused

RE: Gentle mod #2
I've got the 510 soldered, the leads needed a tight 90° bend out of the battery and the dual fet arrangement is together.. sort of, I've misplaced the 15k resistors I had left over from my last build. Once I get the replacements one will be placed nicely in the triangle bit Sleepy
