Dovpo Topside Single Cell Squonker - First Impressions.
Hi All - I have been vaping with the above for a few hours now so I am in a position to give an early viewpoint on it all.

Overall Impression:- This squonker is very well made and put together. It is nice in the hand and comfortable to use and it does look smart.

Points of Concern:-  Bottom door that holds the squonk bottle and battery in place is very tight and has to be treated with care, it is very secure but a lot of use and a little carelessness could become a problem. On the plus side, because of the style of the mod and only having a single cell means that it is quite safe to charge via the USB cable and only needs to be used when renewing the battery when its life span is done.

The top filling cap is also very tight, and needs to be for it to work properly. It needs to be pressed down firmly and screwed down and only time will tell how good the quality of the threads are. As it needs to be used a lot I recommend great care with this as well.

Nice Things:- The squonk bottle is great, not too soft and not too firm and can be squeezed quite easily while holding the mod in normal vaping mode. The buttons are firm and clicky and there is no rattle at all from the mod.

So early impressions are very good and I will be giving updates as and when anything transpires. If anyone is interested in this mod and has any questions - just ask.

You're getting on all right with the 0.5W increments?

RE: Dovpo Topside Single Cell Squonker - First Impressions.
Glad to hear you like your kit so far. As far as the fill cap threading, I don't have to snug up the seal super tight. The rubber kidneys do fine with it just at base contact, so I don't have to tighten it so hard it is difficult to loosen. Maybe the single and dual are a little different. As for the battery door, I agree. It's a bit of a trick, and I never liked bottom battery doors much anyway. But it's held up without issue for me so far.

Thanks for the early impressions and thoughts!

Hi Don - yes - The coil is 1.04ohm and vapes fine at 11.5W. Increments of .1W would have been better right enough.

RE: Dovpo Topside Single Cell Squonker - First Impressions.
So Eddie... how has the durability of the finish been for yours so far? Mine has minor paint loss on the very bottom for constant picking up and putting down, but the body is still immaculate which is something I did not expect. My wedding ring (while it strangles me endlessly) has not made a single scuff and it's been doinked around a few times but still has shown zero wear at all. That's the second most impressive thing about it so far. Been 6 months now.

Speaking of which, I swapped in the Dead Rabbit a few days ago. Same SS316L 7 wrap 26g 3.5MM ID spaced coil at 3.4v, but parallel duals now rather than one single. I wanted a bit more flavour and cloud. Ohms are around .32 or so compared to the .6-ish of the single. The DR has more internal juice capacity so less squeezing. And cell life has not halved at all, more like maybe a 20% dropoff. It's gold and not green so the match is gone, but this DR is also a very nice atty.

Hi TW - I like the Topside a lot - hence the reason I now have two[Image: tongue.gif]. The quality of the whole thing is great - I have no criticisms of it at all apart from the increment adjustment but I have learned to live with that. I too have the Dead Rabbit on one of mine and my new one has my new Holic. I have also sussed a place in the UK for replacement bottles although you do get a spare with it when you buy it but it is handy to know. I am pleased I took notice of your praise for this as the increment ''thing'' would have stopped me buying it - thank you. I am vaping with it as I write this - my new one with the Holic - the Holic is a really nice RDA BTW.

RE: Dovpo Topside Single Cell Squonker - First Impressions.
I still say fuss around a bit with VV mode. You may get a lot closer to your happy place that way rather than with watts.

I swapped to the rabbit for a parallel build because the Profile simply can't do it. Deck is built for a single, and really more for mesh. Works fine with a traditional single coil though.

I do really have to say... the squonking bit is glorious and it is obviously a main reason I got it, (and of course the top fill and huge capacity), but the durability of the finish has actually vaulted this to the top of my all-time list, even ahead of the HOF iPV4s and iPV8. If those finishes were are tough as this, it would be a tie.

Although I enjoyed and still do enjoy the RSQ, I have to admit the Topside has become my daily squonker mod - I have a 2nd one in transit right now.....the topfill was a game changer! One will sport the PULSE X and the other will likely get the PHOBIA RDA....
