RE: DIY Flavor Suggestions?
That's a great point, bibs. I put a "bottled on:" date on my labels so I know how long they've been steeping, but usually I just do that with the ones I know I like and know how long they should steep. Never really thought about putting it on the random concoctions I throw together, but it would be extremely helpful if a juice started bad then turned good later. Good

  • Capella's New Caramel v2 (much better than the old stuff, and v2 is dicetyl-free)
  • Capella's Cappuccino (works great with the caramel)
  • Capella's French Vanilla v2 (goes with literally anything)
  • Capella's Sweet Cream (again, goes with anything for sweetener and/or creaminess)
  • Capella's Apple Pie (I'm still working on making this great, it's good on its own but needs something...)
Those are what I use in my favorite juice recipes, so I get big 4oz bottles of them. I also like to get small 13ml bottles of a few flavors to sample, like Blueberry (fantastic with Sweet Cream or Menthol), Hazelnut (eww, I can't get it to work with anything), Menthol (good for MTL, I don't really use it for DTL juices), Double Fudge Brownie (fantastic when mixed with vanilla and sweet cream and steeped for a very long time), the list goes on... Point is, you can get smaller bottles of juices to taste test and see what you like, and make small batches when you're coming up with recipes so you don't waste a lot of flavoring if it turns out bad, and then if you decide you like it a lot you can always just buy big bottles next time. As you can see, my main flavoring supplier right now is Capella's simply because I haven't really tried many others and I like what they offer, but a place like heartlandvapes is good since you can try different brands and see what works for you.

I find most French Vanilla flavours taste metallic to me.

You just can't beat solubarome's vanilla.

I haven't been able to find it solubarome's vanilla anywhere here - may have to order from France.

I believe that's the only way to get it, unfortunately. Thought about ordering some myself, I wonder if shipping would be more cost-effective to just get a big batch delivered to one of us and re-ship it from there Tongue

Speaking of slippery slope, here's my mixing drawer. The overflow bottles are elsewhere.

They will ship it - but it will cost a bit.

Can't be beaten IMO and it helps that you can read French as the site is only in French and Italian.

Postage from France is way cheaper than from the UK.

Probably would - French Post is way cheaper than UK/US Post.

Solubarome do it by price. Above xxx euros, the post price adds a level.

Big order spilt many ways is probably the way to go.

RE: DIY Flavor Suggestions?
In the UK, Capella stuff is frighteningly expensive, but usually pretty decent.

For me, the Capella equivalent to the Solubarome stuff would have to be 10x better as the price ratio is about that.

It isn't but the sums on the other side of the Atlantic may differ.

RE: DIY Flavor Suggestions?
Yeah I use Capella's mostly because it's among the cheapest for a good concentrate this side of the pond, I get 4oz/118ml for $20, which I believe is around £14 or £15.

FB, for real if you want to get some Solubarome Vanilla we could do a group buy. Get a big bottle delivered to you or me depending on if it's cheaper to Canada or USA, then re-package and ship from there. Of course I'd have to figure out the numbers and talk to my accountant about it, but that would be cheaper than buying a big batch for yourself just to see if you like it.

I'll look at the site and do some calculations....worse case scenario we can have it shipped to Eddie then send him an airline ticket to FL (to see umi - he's fit right in with the snowbirds) and he will ship it to us from there! Smile
