Commentary on the US flavour ban
Beware that Clive Bates who wrote this was head of ASH. His only interest in vaping is that it weans folks off tobacco then they're supposed to stop vaping. He's not really a friend.

But this is worth a read.

RE: Commentary on the US flavour ban
I love this one...

Flavours as a whole are attractive to adolescents (but this is trivially obvious)

Yes indeed, we vapers (and humans as well) long knew that flavors appeal to kids- as well as adults, and elderly folks, and anyone who needs to consume food to survive. That reasoning has always been so blatantly obvious that it's hard to image they had straight faces when they lashed out against flavored liquids. Obviously flavors are attractive. That kills me.

They are adults, but have exceeded their expiration date of usefulness. That's what the separation is about. It's OK though, because we still love you (I mean them, sorry).

RE: Commentary on the US flavour ban
The simple fact is banning flavored e-liquids is as flawed an idea as building a wall across the border . The US banned flavored cigarettes to no avail teens still smoke , teens still drink . It is the nature of the age group to experiment especially if they think it will make them appear more adult . I,ve said it before , i'll say it again parenting is the solution , people need to grow a pair and take control of their kids . Being a good parent means making and enforcing rules your children may not like .

Why be normal when wierd is so much fun.

And while that is very true, it's equally true that kids (teens, adolescents), will certainly rebel in various ways. And nothing is more rebellious than seeking out something that the adults are telling them to avoid at all costs. So the stupidment is of course making it worse by telling people not to try it. That only incites them more. And frankly, with good parenting, the odds of a kid trying but not continuing a bad habit are much higher. I "tried" smoking when I was young, much younger than when I actually made it a habit. I did it because a 'cool kid' was doing it and I didn't want to look like a square. But after that one puff (and a successful attempt at being 'cool'), I did not touch them again for a decade. It was only after I was moved out on my own that I regretfully picked up the habit.

But I did keep drinking... I enjoyed that even as a teenager, maybe more even. Something about bribing the gas station clerk to sell it to me was pretty exciting.
