RE: Coil issue - smok stick v8 kit with big baby beast
Hi there,

I just purchased this model a week ago and have been loving it  until about four days ago when after about three good pulls on it, and then it is nothing but burning. Totally gross. Also, the unit seems to get pretty damn warm. Has anyone else had that? I didn't even think about the type of juice to get it, I went with what my husband was using but no nicotine, and if I remember correctly, it is the 80/20. We're going to take it back to the vape store we bought it from to see what they over the weekend.

Welcome aboard... 80/20 is typically too high of a VG ratio for factory coils. It doesn't wick properly and will lead to the troubles you describe. I'd go with no higher than 70/30. 80/20 and up is best for squonking, dripping, and RDTA's on DIY built decks. Let us know what the shop tells you too.

As for the heat, higher wattage and more frequent draws will heat up the cells. What are you vaping at, and how quickly do you go between draws?

Thanks for replying, I definitely will. I have some ejuice I ordered coming in today that is 50/50 so I may change it out and see if it does the same thing before going to shop. Big Grin

I edited my post to include a blurb about the heat, you may not have seen it prior to the reply...

Oh, didn't even see that!  I go about a minute or two between draws (I do about three or four draws before putting it down for about 15 minutes). Since I am so new to this, I don't understand the question about what I am vaping at. Do you mean the wattage? I can't adjust it on this one.  :/

OK, I don't know that one specifically so I can't tell you if it is adjustable. Others here can and will...

The smok stick is basically a mech tw.

50/50 might be a tad thin sr, with such a large coil it's possible it could wick too fast or gravitate to just the lower section during a long hit. I'd agree with tw that 70/30 is about right. Its some food for thought anyway Smile

Don't forget to apply for the freecycle section!

Research what you want to buy first - or you could be wasting more money - just starting off is not easy.
