RE: Coil gunk?
TW, I've had the same thing happen to me a few times recently. I don't know what it is or why, I figured it was just falling apart since I was using too high power. But I suspect AJ is right, per usual.

RE: Coil gunk?
I know that Spas rewicks about ten times as often as I do. He finds that high in VG liquids mean that he has to rewick daily or more often.

50:50 for him doesn't build up carbon on the coils and wicks so badly and the flavour is better.

Me - this is not an issue for me, and even if it was, I prefer the "feel" of very high VG liquids.

But YMMV.

@tin
I was vaping in 90f/32c degree weather and atomizer gets Hot, I wonder if that has anything to do with it.

What kind weather you vape in?

RE: Coil gunk?
All my coils these days ar 2.5mm ID, 4-5 wraps.

3 strands of 28 awg A1 Kanthol 28 twisted tight will result in right around .5 ohms per coil with 4 wraps, depending on if you're mounting it cross-legged or same-side.  With dual coils, that comes out to right at .25 ohms.  I run it in the mid to high 60's - it's at 68 watts right this moment.

Thinner strands - like, not using twisted or Clapton so the strands are thinner - can use more wraps without a problem, as this reduces the physical width of the coil and the distance the juice has to wick.  Remember - the coils heat from the center out, so the part with the least juice is always also the hottest.

BTW - I'm frequently vaping in temps well over 100*F, lol.

Remind one liberal per day, that laws affect only the law-abiding.

If you allow me to do some speculation, I say there is sucralose in your e-liquid.

RE: Coil gunk?
You beat me to it Peter, I'd blame sweeteners too.

It's always 'blame the sweeteners'. Poor sweeteners!!!

RE: Coil gunk?
Me, I get no coil gunk unless I've not changed my wicks this year Smile

But then I vape only one flavour nearly all of the time - my own QC. At 80%VG

And replace the wicks when I need to, which is around monthly unless I've vaped something to dry.

And replace the coils rarely. I only replace coils when they don't work any more.
