RE: Coil gunk?
Everyone here is right - some juice just gunks up coils more and faster than others.

I've posted about it before - there is SOMETHING in certain juices, and I've yet to determine what ingredient it is, that causes the VERY rapid buildup of a specific kind of coil gunk VERY quickly.  Your coils have this particular kind of gunk on them.  All coils start to lose flavor or taste a funky as they gunk up, but THAT gunk tastes like burning hell and it's hard to clean off.  I noticed it with JUZ mix-your-own juices, and with Cyclops Vapors juice.  It happened with all 3 flavors I tried of Cyclops, and with certain flavors of JUZ.  I've never had it appear with any other juice I've used.

RE: Coil gunk?
It has always appeared for me, no mater the build, juice, or atty. I assume it is part of the game. It happens much more quickly with the Aromamizer and I find that along with that gunk, the cotton within the coils is burnt away to nothing; this is within one tankfull's time. I don't like it, actually, because it results in frequent cotton changes which I don't like to do. The taste is obvious when it happens. I have to keep the power way down to avoid it happening quickly.

RE: Coil gunk?
Tin - vaping 10-20 ml/day on the Aromamizer, I'm able to go almost a week between coil cleanings - as long as I avoid the juices that cause THAT stuff.  How does that compare to your use/gunking?

"normal" coil gunk is dark black flaky crap the builds up and burns off easily with a quick dry burn.

The stuff I'm talking about - and I see on hitti's pic - makes this greyish film that covers everything.  Looks like axel grease, but it's dry and hard.  Whatever the hell flavor ingredient it is that causes that, it builds up FAST - like 1-2 tanks worth - and the nasty taste is one step above a dry hit in it's nastiness.  When I was vaping the Cyclops samples, I was buring off my coils daily - sometimes more than once.  Sad

Wouldn't you guy's be brilliant if you could figure out want the ingredient in the juice was that caused the gunk.  From my cooking days it looks like something sugar/carbo based.  Sure to gunk up any pan let alone a coil.

RE: Coil gunk?
Other than the coil gunk, after dry burn and wicking, wonderful pleasurable clouds.

Dry burn and wick daily- yes, same here. Not an issue on the 13/9 but more than prevalent on the A-mizer. I'm thinking I am doing it wrong, but not sure what.

I changed coils again, this time a 26g A1 dual twisted, .2 ohms. And lowered the power all the way to 20w with the same results. Not only does it gunk up (easy enough to burn and remove), but it also eats the cotton that is in the coil. I have tried a lot of cotton, a little, long ends, short, etc and all act the same. After about 1 tank, the coils are fouled and the cotton is gone from the middle.

Since I know it is I that is doing it wrong, can anyone tell me what exactly it is I am doing wrong?

RE: Coil gunk?
You aren't doing anything wrong.  I'm telling you - it's a flavoring or coloring ingredient.  The only thing I've noticed any consistency with, is that strawberry flavors seem more prone to it than others.  But I have seen strawberry flavors that don't do it, and non-strawbery ones that do.

Maybe I should send you some of my current regular flavor and have you try it with a clean coil/wick.  If it gunks up just as bad - it's something in your setup.  If it goes 4-6 days without needing a burn - it's your juice.

Hell - might as well send you some coils, too.  Big Grin
