Coil Ideas
OK, so I've been using the same coils for a very long time, across all my platforms. Usually, the build is:

Parallel, dual FC, SS316l, 28/40, Ohming out at around .25. Sometimes it's a simple parallel single core Clapton, same metals etc that Ohm's at around .35-.4.

I have some different wires so I can explore some other builds, looking for some advice, recommendations.

I'd like to stay with SS, I have 28, 26, 36, and 40. I do have some 24, 26, and 28 A1 as well but I like the flavor better with SS316l.

So, shoot me your style and wrap/gauge recommendations. I'd go as low as 18w or as high as 40w depending on the build. Single or parallel both are welcome for suggestions.

I have the Dead Rabbit coming soon and since it seems to be great with single or parallel builds, I am open to either.

RE: Coil Ideas
Why not try some simple spaced coils. Some say that spaced coils work better with TC.

If only to compare with what you get from the FCs.

8 wraps of 28g 316L on a 3mm (Near enough 1/8") former should give you 0.9 ohms and work nicely around 20W.

Or 6 wraps of 26g A1 on the same former to get the same resistance so again good at around 20W though I find I prefer a few more watts than Steam Engine recommends.

You'd probably want to drop the resistance for DTL.

RE: Coil Ideas
Spaced coils of any kind are one thing I have not tried in all these years. Good idea Don.

RE: Coil Ideas
what have you tried and dismissed thus far?

I'd go for a 26gss 26ga1 40g wrap fc. Maybe use twisted 40g for the wrap.

Slightly twist two 28g ss, add a 28g a1 and twist some more, don't go until the snap, leave it fairly slack.

Twisted 26g a1, parallel with 24g ss

There's literally no end to the coil porn you can make, all you need is the inclination to make it Smile

26g ss 26g a1 twisted half staggered wrap, parallel 24a1

Tripple core triangular fc? 2ss 1 a1 and a 36 wrap..

RE: Coil Ideas
OK, I haven't really dismissed any per se, but the parallel FC seems to retain too much heat and it pisses me off. I'm good enough with the Daedalus to make standard Clapton wrapping, and I guess maybe I'm just tired of using the same coil?

RE: Coil Ideas
When a 28g fc retains too much heat your looking for a single strand coil. Or far fewer wraps.

RE: Coil Ideas
Double strand 28/40 FC, parallel, 7 wraps I believe (without taking off the cap to look because I'm lazy and forgetful).

RE: Coil Ideas
Yeah. 28g fused is about as thin as you'll make it before the cores twist, its about the coolest running fc.
Because your using ss you need a good number of wraps.. more metal, more heat.

So you need single core coils or far less wraps.

If you used the 28g a1 as the fc cores you could try 4 wrap 3mm coils, should be .15+ ramp up fast and give good flavour. They won't be the cloudiest coils but still nice.

Keeping a cool vape with multi core coils is an art, if you can clapton 30g cores you'll see a big difference.. but keeping them from twisting while wrapping won't be easy!
