RE: Chat hub
My driver's door window no longer moves, I do need to tear off the door skin and fix that.

One day...

RE: Chat hub
Have you smacked the door in the area a few times? Sometimes it's a loose or stuck switch that can be persuaded to work again.

RE: Chat hub
I think a plastic component broke. It sounded like something breaking anyway.

But giving it a smack is easier than cleanly removing the inside skin so I'll definitely give that a shot.

Thanks TW.

Gah, busted bits won't be cured with an additional trauma. Bummer. I'm assuming it is not a critical need since it seems a bit low on your list of things to do.

Ah, so it's the regulator. That is the worst and most complicated part of the entire assembly. And the costliest. And not a simple thing to swap either.

RE: Chat hub
And from the sounds which I assume were it breaking, it is plastic.

When I smoked, opening the driver's window in all weathers was necessary. Less so with vape.

And the car smells way better than it used to unless I have wet dog(s) in it.

RE: Chat hub
Top priority today was installing a new cooker which arrived today. 63A (What you use for 10+kW devices here - it'd be 100A in the US given the lower voltage there) cable is a PITA to handle and ram into connectors intended for cable that'd melt if the full 48 or so amps it uses with everything on were used.

There was a plastic "safety" cover over the connections. Took half an hour to open that cover and longer than that to put it back. It took ridiculous amounts of force to open it.

And duct tape to close it.

Then there's a nasty tin thing to be screwed over the whole thing.

But it is installed and it works.

Yes sir. The window channels and the cable are metal, but the supporting brackets are most definitely plastic. The greater shame is, you can't get the bits separately. You have to buy the whole regulator as an assembly. Better to go to the bone yard and find a donor door with a manual crank!

If I can find one in the local scrap yards.

Worth a look though.
