Burned throat
Hi, this may have already been asked, but I’m new here and couldn’t seem to find anything.
I just had my first dry hit, which was AWFUL, but I survived, obviously. My throat isn’t sore, but it burns every time I vape now. It’s been an hour or so. My question is, how long will it take for this to wear off?
Thank you!

Drink a lot of water. It will help. Dry hits suck but especially at over 100+ watts. Why I toodle vape a lot now.

Thanks! I had it at 65 watts when it happened. My vape only goes up to 80.

RE: Burned throat
Sucking a fruit or mint sweet helps as well - but plenty liquid is needed.

RE: Burned throat
You will, and I emphasise this, NOT be inhaling cotton ash during a dry hit!.

To turn cotton to ash requires temperatures over 350°c, if anyone can even put their lips near a heat source of that magnitude I'd be very surprised, never mind actually inhaling it!

What is actually happening is the small amount of juice in contact with the coil is boiling off at a temperature sufficient for it to oxidise. While this situation IS bad and should be avoided at all cost, it is still a situation you would face with a silica wick. As a matter of fact, in my own personal use of silica I find the dry hit to be exponentially worse in taste than with cotton.

Don't forget to apply for the freecycle section!

Absolutely. And as I menntioned, Silica absorbtion rate is lower than cotton. So dry hits are more common if you chain vape or if you are vaping above 20 watts. We used silica in the days that sub ohm vaping was still a dream.
