Brilliant little coil maker.
IMO this is a brilliant idea.

Like a lot of brilliant ideas it is glaringly obvious once someone has had the idea.

RE: Brilliant little coil maker.
Wonder how much they'd charge for something like that?

RE: Brilliant little coil maker.
But I suspect you'll see them on FT for under $5 soon enough.

RE: Brilliant little coil maker.
Wow! Can it get any easier than that? $20 is far too much for what little there is to it but Don is right, FT will have it soon enough for $5. My question on it is just what is the set screw for? The winding pin stays the same and the wire passes through that little angled hole but what does that set screw do and why the need to change it?

Oh, OK. After watching it again I see now. The set screw is in the cap and is what presses on the coil to wind the wire around the center pin. For the heavier wire the screw is a bit farther away from the pin to fit the heavier wire. Got it. Wink

It really is incredibly simple. Which is the hallmark of a brilliant idea. I'm well impressed with whoever thought this one up.

But $20 is way too much.

For that I'd want a bunch of different pin sizes and suitable caps

RE: Brilliant little coil maker.
I want a set of these, in sizes from 20ga (for nano coils) all the way up to 1/4" (for big macros).

For that, I would pay $25. Definitely not $20 for 1. But that might also be because I'm cheap. lol

This guy is out of stock just now but had them the last time I looked. These guys say they are in stock. Everyone else seems to be waiting for the next batch in mid-January. Their official website is here
