Video Best method to making the perfect coils!
I found this tutorial the other day and it takes all the mystery and trepidation out of making your own coils.  Not just crappy home-made coils, but perfect-every-time-making-you-look-like-a-true-professional-coiler coils!

The only thing I can criticise about his tutorial is not the technique itself or the end result, but that he doesn't really understand the reason for heating the coils.  He says it is to "oxidize" the coil wire and that may or may not be happening with the flame treatment, what he is really doing without realizing it is annealing the metal so it can be shaped easily and hold that shape.  Kanthal wire, as well as the Nichrome wire, is a bit springy and rigid when you get it.  The heat anneals (softens) the wire so it can be bent easily around the machine screw threads without it wanting to unravel itself.  Once the coil is formed it is heated one more time so that it stays in that shape after it is removed from the screw.

This screw method is brilliant for getting perfect coil spacing every time and it is super easy, to boot.  Have fun impressing your vaping mates with your mad, newly found, coiling skills!! Tongue
