Battery Issues
Hey guys I have had a nitecore i8 for a while now and have loved it but now I have an issue yesterday I grabbed a new set of batteries off of it (they were 3 day old VRK 20700) and headed 2 work only when I put them in my mod they were nearly dead after spending all night on the charger which had a green light on them when I grabbed them...I thought maybe it was just a one time thing....then today I grabbed a set of 18650 which I've had 4 a while and put them in a different mod and same thing...I cycled through 2 sets of batteries off the charger all with green lights on them but we're all nearly dead...help plse ???

RE: Battery Issues
Sounds like the power supply may not be providing what it is supposed to.

With almost all consumer electronic devices, the power supply is the cause of failure.

If you can stick a voltmeter across the terminals for one battery, it should read in the 4.2-4.3V range.

If it reads less than that under no load, then I'd be pretty sure the internal power supply has gone bad.

If that is the case, plugging in a 12V 3A or more power supply (12V 5A PSUs are around ten dollars from China) may cure it.

If you got a car charging lead with it, try it in your car to see if it then behaves properly. If it does the PSU is at fault.

RE: Battery Issues
Nitecore have been making chargers for a decent amount of time. However, there have been fake Nitecore chargers on the market.

RE: Battery Issues
There aren't that many 8 cell chargers out there.

There's the Efan Air M8

There's the Efest Q8

The Miboxer C8. I own this one and am happy with it but I very rarely need to charge 8 cells at a time. I like Miboxer chargers.

Obviously the Nitecore

There's the GyrFalcon All-88. As I remember it is extremely expensive. It is probably the best 8 cell charger out there though. But you do pay (a lot) for it.

The links are all to HKJ's extremely comprehensive reviews. To my knowledge he does better and more detailed reviews on chargers than anyone else. Basically I won't buy a charger he hasn't reviewed and been happy with. All you really need to read is his conclusion at the end of each review, but there is more than enough detail to check if your use case is different.

RE: Battery Issues
I would suggest trying the cells on another charger if you have one, or can borrow one. It is just possible (Though pretty unlikely) that the cells are at fault.

I'd recommend buying two four cell chargers instead. Something like two LiitoKala Engineer Lii-500 4 cell chargers might be cheaper than a single 8 cell unit and gives you an element of redundancy. As I remember the LiitoKala Kala was quite a bit less expensive than the Opus at the time I bought it.

Or a pair of Opus BT-C3100 chargers as long as the firmware is version 2.1 or later. AFAIK the current firmware version is 2.2. I own both of those chargers. While the LiitoKala is technically a bit better the Opus is IMO easier to use.

There are loads of good 4 cell lithium cell chargers out there. The very best of them is probably the SkyRC MC-3000 but it is a very long way from free. I don't own one of those but would like to.

It sounds like that is urgently necessary. I hope the electrician doesn't find anything too expensive to fix.
