RE: Back to my old love
No sir, MTL is just a technique. Draw into the mouth, then pull it into the lungs. DL goes straight in like a deep breath. The main difference as it relates to power is, it is hard to get a deep draw using MTL as your cheeks lack the capacity of your lungs, limiting the amount you can draw in.

Maybe the designers had Satchmo Cheeks, who knows.

Is that because of the assumption of one using higher gauge/thinner wire?

Satchmo Cheeks, I'm thinking I'll be using that for a song title someday soon, thank you sir!

Think of it this way, Scott. We've all held a 9v battery to a steel wool pad, right? Just to watch it burn? Hold a 12g copper house wire across the same battery, you get the idea.

RE: Back to my old love
Theoretically, MTL is just a technique. But you cannot do a proper MTL drag with a DL oriented tank, with a big chimney, low ohms and high watts. Tried to MTL on Uwell Crown FULLY closed airflow (air could still pass through though) and it was impossible. Not just unpleasurable, but impossible. The vapor got thinner and thinner through its long way from the coil to the driptip. All parts of the tank got unbearably hot to the point I couldn't put my lips there. And I was coughing so hard after every drag like I was vaping acid.
I was afraid that I would cough anytime I would try to MTL since that day, maybe because my throat got so used to DL but no, it wasn't true. The problem was the tank, not my throat.
In my opinion MTL is not just a technique. It is a combination of suitable gear, right amount of power and ohms, closed airflow and of course the technique.

RE: Back to my old love
However there are sub ohm coils put in the right device you can MTL ---
Nautilus 2 .7 ohm coil
Jwell Passy . 5 ohm coil
Nautilus x - .8 ohm coil

You will be vaping at 14+ watts though not at 10-12 watts. I'm usually at 14.3 - 14.7 watts. I use .7 ohm nautilus 2 coils a lot. They heat up fine after a minute or two lol. The first couple of pulls are often not perfect. Once the coil is heated up a bit they are fine. So I press the fire button one or two times before my first pull. There is a lot of technique with certain coils and tanks you choose to build. I often build .6 - .8 for my RTAs. And I toodle them. You do need the right tank.

RE: Back to my old love
Any thoughts on folks who are MtL'ing 6 and 3mg nic and saying that they are getting enormous throat hit and after a couple toots feeling light-headed... yet they are DL'ers who traditionally vape sub-ohm at 100+ watts?

Not asking for judgement calls but trying to weed through, and out, some YouTube reviewers who I've been watching on MTL tanks.

Personally I am starting to think some of these larger YouTube reviewers are getting paid to say what they say.

Again, not looking to start a witch Hunt thing here but in fact I am trying to learn -- and apply that knowledge to my skill sets and purchases.

RE: Back to my old love
Additionally, I am DL'ing currently at 26 watts on a .56 ohm 24g Kanthal coil and want to shoot for a similar experience via MTL on the Berserker... can someone suggest a coil gauge, target ohm and wattage for me?

Also, I am vaping 6mg of nicotine currently, is there an opinion on whether I will be okay staying at 6mg when I try MTL or should I prepare to bump up... and if so, to what mg of nic?

My current ADV is available in 0, 3, 6 and 12... so hopefully someone doesn't say "you'll be needing 18 or more".

Thank you

RE: Back to my old love
12mg nic should be OK. I use 18mg but when I read here about how people MTL on coils under 1ohm I have to smile - it appears I MTL differently to every one else - which is probably a good thing[Image: tongue.gif]. If I vaped at anything like 14W my cotton would be on fire. Also thinking that you get less vapour is a myth - it just seems less because it is not diluted with air - and the flavour is diluted as well. It appears there is MTL and ''MTL''. From now on I am out of MTL discussions - we are all different - thank goodness.[Image: smile.gif] Enjoy your vaping - that is all that matters.
