Atomic Wire, what is it?
Well I got some atomic wire when I ordered my Crius Plus RTA. Now waiting on my Wismec RX 2/3 to come in.

Anyways, I was wondering what type of wire is Atomic Brand wire? I googled and couldn't find jack squat. Is it SS? NiChrom? Cause if it is that opens up options for me and using the RX2/3.

Also any recommendations on premade Clapton wire? Got an idea storming.

Have you used it already? Tell me about your coil/s.. how many and what size wraps and the resistance it came out as, I'll be able to help I-m_so_happy

RE: Atomic Wire, what is it?
Is this the stuff? It looks like it's about the same resistance as SS 304. That's with me doing loose-ish math, the resistance of 20ga SS 304 per meter is 1.38 ohms, while the resistance per foot of 20ga Atomic wire is 0.423, multiplied by 3 to approximate the resistance per meter is around 1.28 ohms, that's the closest I could find by comparing the resistances found here to the resistance chart I found here.

Edit: So I did a little more in-depth math, using 3.28 ft = 1 meter, and here's what I found.

For 26ga Atomic Wire, the resistance per meter is ~5.62 ohms.

For 26ga 304 SS wire, the resistance per meter is ~5.53 ohms.

For 26ga 321 SS wire, the resistance per meter is ~5.79 ohms.

So it looks like the Atomic wire is something Steam Crave hasn't heard of, since I tried every other type of wire and couldn't find anything close. It's somewhere between 304 SS and 321 SS, probably a proprietary alloy if I had to guess. It doesn't say anything about being TC-only so I'd assume it's supposed to be safe for use in power mode, but it's gonna be very low resistance.

RE: Atomic Wire, what is it?
I tied the math and failed soo bad! Fair play to you mike.

There's several wires steam engine doesn't list, there's a few kanthal, nichrome and various nickel alloys. Bizarrely listing things you'll never vape on like precious metals Wacko

RE: Atomic Wire, what is it?
Using standard units makes it much easier.

You have a resistance shown as a function of volume. Expressed as per square millimetre and length in metres. This is done to exclude a very large number of zeros after the decimal point and in front of the actual numbers we want.

[url-http://www.rapidtables.com/calc/wire/awg-to-mm.htm]This[/url] calculator comes in handy for weird units like AWG.

So for 24 gauge wire (Or as I prefer to call it, 0.5mm wire) we have a cross-sectional area of 0.2047 square millimetres.

A metre is 39.2 inches. A foot is 12 inches. So to convert from per metre to per foot divide by 39.2 and multiply by 12. Or multiply by 0.3061 which will have the same result.

And you have the cross-sectional are from the calculator.

24ga Kanthal is around 2.2 ohms per foot.
SS316L 1.1
Pure titanium 0.7
Ni200 0.15
SS304 1.05

Toss me the numbers and I'll do the conversion - it is straightforward enough.

RE: Atomic Wire, what is it?
From Michael's figures it is most likely SS304

RE: Atomic Wire, what is it?
scroll down on this page Don. Based on the recollection of a conversation I had a few months ago I'm sure I was told it was a grade of kanthal of nichrome, or one of the brand names of either.

RE: Atomic Wire, what is it?
Haven't used any of it yet as I just ordered my Wismec RX 2/3 Friday, as my current setup won't fire it. I also installed the factory clapton coil that came with it.

I just wanna find out what type of material the wire is so I could use the TC setting but I may just wait and buy some better wire specifically for TC. And just use this Atomic for VW mode.

RE: Atomic Wire, what is it?
Atomic wire is SS ... but it is a blend so nobody knows precisely what the composition is. It is not pure SS so you would have to set your TCR - I would try between .0095 - .0105 and see how it goes. Each mod also reads the TCR slightly different. If our mod has no TCR I would not vape it in TC - you need to fool with the TCR settings. I'm guessing a mixed SS would be on the high end so probably around .0105. But that is not gospel.
