Alien 220w: Battrey Low?
Hey guys, I've had my Smok Alien 200W for about 4 months now if I recall correctly. Today, I took a few puffs and suddenly it said "Low Battrey (sic)." For one thing, it kind of bothers me that "battery" is spelled wrong, but that's a different problem.

Anyway, I figured it was just because the batteries were low. So when I got home, I changed them to a fresh pair.... And got the same error. Then another pair, same error. Four pairs of fully charged batteries, and all different kinds: LG HE2, LG HG2, Samsung 25R, and Efest 30A (which I believe are re-wrapped 25R in disguise, but I'm not entirely sure on that). And the pair that were in it originally were actually at 3.75v, which should still be fine since the mod cuts off around 3.5v iirc.

So obviously it's not the batteries. I cleaned the mod everywhere I could, which is really just the 510 and the battery compartment unless I want to take the thing apart with a screwdriver.

Also, the tank works just fine on my Sigelei-100W. So it's not a coil issue.

So, is this a problem anyone has experienced? Or any ideas what could be behind this issue? To be honest I'll probably just take this as an excuse to buy a new mod anyway, but fixing this one would be nice. I've used it heavily since getting it, and honestly it's become my all-day everyday mod that I carry to work and use at home unless I want to use an RDA on my DNA200, so I've definitely gotten my money's worth out of it. But it would definitely be nice to be able to fix it if possible.

Sounds like borked mod to me. If funds allow I'd get another.

Speaks the 20W on a bad day guy. 11 on a good day.

That's kind of what I'm thinking. Since the batteries are good, and the tank is good, the only thing I can think of is maybe somewhere in there some electronics got fried and I'm screwed. Right now I actually can afford to buy a new mod, so it's probably worth it to not have to mess with fixing the Alien unless someone happens to know a quick fix.

So now the question is, what to replace it? I'm thinking Sigelei Kaos or Wismec Predator, since I know my local shop has them and they're a similar wattage range and price.

If you can get a Sig 100 or 150 buy those instead...

Yeah, I actually still have my original Sigelei-100W, still a fantastic mod. Just thinking about getting another because why not. I like having something smaller for work, and the 100 and 150 are a bit pricey.

After looking up some reviews, I'm also considering the Battlestar, the iPV8, I don't know. I'm thinking at this point I'll probably just get whatever catches my fancy at the shop after checking out what they have. I'll probably have a play around with them all and see what feels well-made and make a rash uninformed decision. Not the brightest idea, but I enjoy trying new things.

Did you give the battery connection springs a really close look mike? I've had weak springs give me the same problem on a few mods now.

If that's a bust I think you should look at the squid industries double barrel mod bud, no tc but one hell of a solid made thing! Small too Ok

IPV8 or Vesta are nice. Predator has a seriously bad reputation. There's a neat new Laisimo Spider coming out that looks real spiffy. Sigelei is also probably a good bet too.

RE: Alien 220w: Battrey Low?
Welp, ended up doing exactly that thing I said I would do. Played with the Fuchai, Kaos, Predator, and a couple others. Eventually ended up getting the Smok ProColor 225TC. My logic was "Hey, the Alien was fantastic while it lasted, and this is basically a fancier Alien with pretty colors!" It came with a Big Baby tank, which is nice since it uses the same coils from the Baby Beast which I already had been using with my Alien. After trying it out a bit I'm really liking it so far. So now the test will be to see how long it lasts. Either way, I'm happy for now.

RE: Alien 220w: Battrey Low?
Mike, I haven't thought to look really close at the connections yet, I'll do that. So far I've just cleaned the thing out briefly with a tissue to get any juice residue that may have spilled in, but didn't see any. I saw the Double Barrel mod but honestly I wasn't too keen on the design, just looked a bit weird. Though if I'd seen your recommendation before I would have given it a better chance. Oh well, live and learn.

I'll take a closer look at the Double Barrel, iPV8 and Vesta you guys mentioned for future reference. This is the first big vaping purchase I've made since the Alien, so my wife is still happy that I'm not spending a lot and I'm sure she'd be amenable to the idea of me getting one of those later with a good recommendation. For now, I've got a sexy new green mod and tank to show off my Irish heritage Tongue
