Flame on Deck?
Hi. I just went to a vape shop and bought some 24g kanthal and cottons. So i asked them to build me a pair of coils so i can have a vape on the go. When its done. The dual coil is in the deck they already put a wick in there and some juice. I saw them light it up using a lighter. I mean the whole deck is flaming. They did it twice. Then after it cooled down i vaped on it and  the flavor and throat hit is so smooth and consistent unlike when i build my own. Though my build and their build is just the same. Did the flame do something? I want to try it on my own is it safe?

RE: Flame on Deck?

Yeah. They light the deck using a lighter then it catch fire for a few seconds then blow it. They said it is for a cleaner wick. Is it safe? Btw it is a tube mech hybrid connection

RE: Flame on Deck?
This tends to happen when the wattage is to high for the build and the coil temp exceeds the flash point of the vg . What resistance ant wats are you running ?

Dogs have owners , Cats have staff .

They lit it with a lighter? I can only imagine it was to get rid of the cotton scraggy bits.. seems bizzare but I guess it'd work. Can't imagine it helped with the flavour much tbh.

RE: Flame on Deck?
You are right on gently - I have seen this as well - it is done to tidy up the cotton - doesn't help the vape one bit - but it keeps some folk happy[Image: smile.gif].

Ye its just to clean the wick. I think the reason it vapes good because it is a new build haha. So is it safe? It looks cool

RE: Flame on Deck?
There is a real knack to it - it takes a split second otherwise you ruin the whole wick - it really is a lot of nonesense.IMO

RE: Flame on Deck?
If I tried that, everything would taste burnt all the time.

I'm with Eddie on this, it's a bad idea.

Josh, did they light it on dry cotton or did they juice it up before lighting it? I couldn't imagine lighting dry cotton (even to tidy it up) would be tasty... Yuck. A simple set of pointed plyers to stuff and comb your cotton inside the juice holes would be just as efficient but a lot safer too to be honest.
