Coil
i just rebuild my coil now using ordinary kanthal wire 24g. I dry fired the coil to fix some hitspots. Then when its glowing evenly inside out i wicked and juiced it. But for the first time it tastes like the smell you got when you first dry fire the coil. It tastes like metal i dont know it tastes like kanthal but if i hit the fire button wihout the cap the smell is normal. Ive been building my coils for 2months now and his is the first time i experience it. Could you help me guys

RE: Coil
My guess is that you have a little too much cotton (or far too little) in the coil.

Make sure your wicks are saturated with juice.

RE: Coil
Maybe tighten the tails more. While your there check the 510 pin is tight too.
Have thee been any deviations in the resistance reading?

RE: Coil
The post screws on the coil tails could be lose.

No resistance fluctuations mean there's a likely short in the coil, they can hide on the dark side where you can't see.
Rewick like Don suggests, taking another glance at the coil glow. Maybe an idea to separate the wraps slightly, fire it then bunch them back up again. Check for shorts in general, there could be debris on the deck.

Same build, same tools i used, same cotton, same ejuice, same kanthal a1 24g but i bought it from a different shop now. Is it possible that the wire gives its metallic taste?

RE: Coil
This can happen. Especially if there is oil on the wire. Try cleaning the wire with rubbing alcohol and some cotton. Or pull the current wicks and dry burn the crap out of the coils. Then give them a quick rinse in hot water and see if the taste improves.

Since some sort of lubricant is often used for wire drawing this is actually quite likely.
