Gently your 2nd post made it more clear what you were on about, you must try and explain yourself better first time Tongue

I totally agree - rediculous first post for someone who should know better[Image: tongue.gif].

RE: 2s2p mods vs 3s mods
In my opinion my maxo is great when I'm at home or traveling in the car. It's not good if I'm walking around. It does fit in my pocket but it is a bit heavy. It's about the same weight as my x cube 2. If I'm out walking around I take my R150. I like it better than my RX 2/3. My poor x cube 2 and TFV4 have been relegated to the back up position.

RE: 2s2p mods vs 3s mods
I was just reasoning out whether to buy a dna250 or go for the higher power claims of the power engine bob, both 18650's..

But then the question started bugging me into needing an answer or I'll turn inside out..

On the face of it its a simple answer, 2s2p has one more cell!.. but the time taken to get 12v down to 3.4v vs 8.4v down to 3.4v also smacks of an obvious answer.. both sets of numbers are in the same question if you see what I mean. Not knowing the total mah of either pack isn't helping me Huh

Mike, you're missing something obvious...

You're not getting the entire pack down to 3.4v. You're getting each cell down to 3.4v. A 12v pack will drain to about 10v, while an 8.2v pack will drain to around 6v. Think about when you use your Triade, when you pull the batteries out they're each at 3.4v not 1.13v each.

RE: 2s2p mods vs 3s mods
Let's assume each cell is 1000mAh.

In the 3s pack, you've got 3000mAh, 12.6v when fully charged.

In the 2s2p pack, you've got 4000mAh, 8.4v when fully charged.

So everything else being the same, you'll get more life out of the 2s2p because it has the higher capacity. But you can pull more voltage from the 3s, if you want to go really high wattage.

RE: 2s2p mods vs 3s mods
Your right mike, I did miss that.. it didnt occur to me to think of it tbh, largely because of the chip stepping voltage.
Yeah, I'm thinking of higher wattage use on low ohm coils.

I'm pretty sure 3s doesn't tripple the mah, I mean the power of two cells has to go through one so doesnt it drain at near the same rate?

RE: 2s2p mods vs 3s mods
Technically no, it doesn't. But you have three cells, which each drain from 4.2v to 3.4v. So it depends on the use. If you were to use it in a mech, then it would drain just as fast as a single 4.2v cell because it'd be drawing all the power from all of them. But with a DNA200 (or 250) chip, you'd like be using around 4.2v, maybe up to 7.4v if you want the series mech experience, in which case it's stepping down the voltage which makes it last longer.

RE: 2s2p mods vs 3s mods
Keep in mind though, that a DNA200 chip is made for 3s LiPo. So it'll probably perform better with a 3s than 2s2p. But I'm not 100% sure about that, the mod manufacturers most likely would have already done all the necessary adjustments to the chip to make it work with (essentially) two cells in the case of the 2s2p. (The mod would read it as two cells with really high mAh)
