21 Million Survive
After recent post I thought I'd start a pointless yet maybe interesting post. The number in the subject title is only an estimate it loosely represents the number of Vapers worldwide. The vast majority of that number were smokers who took up vaping in order to quit smoking.

With that in mind it means that there are millions of people who are now living a much healthier life style and as a result of that they will all live a lot longer than they would've if they had continued to smoke.

I myself took up vaping just over 5 years ago not for the health aspect but to save money because the price of cigarettes was just getting silly. Since then I have reaped the benefits both financially and and health wise. Everybody has has their own reason for why they started vaping but there is one thing I am certain of and that is simply the fact that being part of the worldwide community makes life better: Plain and Simple [I did warn you it was a pointless post]

Vaping Saves Lives. To vape is to advocate..

Not pointless at all, was and is an interesting discussion.

That 21M has got to have hurt and continues to hurt the global tobacco profit bottom line....

And the real reason for the Pubic Health hysteria.

The loss of people who were voluntarily paying (tens of currency units) per day in taxes.

Governments are seriously hooked on other people's money and hate it when they get less of it.

RE: 21 Million Survive
It is not a pointless post at all.

I first tried vaping while out of town on the only pleasure trip the wife and I have ever gotten to take alone. Due to the pain in the assitude of bringing cigarettes and a lighter on the plane, we decided to just not smoke that weekend. But, that urge got the better of us after a few beers at the hotel. Unfortunately (at the time), we had no car and there was no close gas station that we knew, so that first night was spent with a little irritation for not being able to do our thing. Anyway, smoking at the hotel was forbidden, and it would have been a massive pain to keep going down and out the lobby for smoke breaks (not the most appealing proposition to go out the door to smoke while trying to get a good drunk on). On my own, I found a local head shop that had vape gear so we decided to give it a go.

That weekend at the hotel was quite fun. We both found vaping to be an awesome little game. And while we immediately decided this would be our path to smoking cessation, we still figured we were just trading one bad habit for another, albeit a much better smelling and tasting one. It wasn't until I began to research and found this place too, that I realized how lucky we'd just gotten. A few months later and I could taste, smell, run, and breathe like a young man again.

I am happy to count myself among the 21 Million. And happy to count myself among the membership here as well.

RE: 21 Million Survive
Tobacco is heavily invasive , the base retail cosp of premium cigarettes is $1.80 per pack before tax and after tax betwen $6.50 to $15.00 per it seems vape poses a greater threat on the state level than on the corporate .

I'll try not to be political here
Big tobacco has the finance and ability to facilitate a transition to e-liquids and vape products . In the end the larger tobacco companies are the dog who be it porterhouse or t-bone the're having steak .
On the state level vape represents a far more imposing threat .The vast majority of tax on tobacco is based on proven harm. Vape being 97% Safer and containing 98% less carcinogens .... Could that hardly warent such scrutiny ? Not likely . This actually places the state in a position to loose millions in anual revenue , a resource that they have become dependent on .
This would indeed be far more intriguing from the outside , an excellent display of capitalism at work . As an insider i have a tad much bias to be objective

Why be normal when wierd is so much fun.

First off, it is inherently political because the BT/BP lobby is where the legislative pressure on vaping is coming from. Politicians are trading dollars for public health and safety here, and in many other ways as well. But it is not one party vs. another, so there is no issue with the 'political' aspect of this thread being divisive or causing hard feelings, which we try to avoid here.

Now, this really isn't 'capitalism at work', because true capitalism is not and has never been intended to jeopardize public health. It's intention is that folks like you and me can become wealthy on our own, with the government staying out of our damn business. It has worked very well. It is when the lobbyists get into bed with the politicians that things go awry.

I agree with you fully about the states and federal levels being alarmed and harmed by tobacco reduction. It is completely in their best interests to keep as many people smoking as possible, and their actions show that they well know that.

True politics are long gone . Capitalism is about financial stability , and like other forms has been perveted and twisted . The capitalist would be the various companies

Why be normal when wierd is so much fun.

I wish it was easy to define the lines, but the pols and the corporations are so tightly intertwined you can't really tell them apart anymore. Shame.
