Hi all,

1 week in to this vaping caper, 40 cigs a day down to 6 a day so far (kick it altogether i hope).
anyway a query or two !

Using a Halo Triton II vape pen, daily juice is Halo Prime15, mix is 70%vg 30%pg and 12mg nicotine. probably 3ml a day.
I have a second pen i use for flavoured juice (Halo EVO sample pack), just cant get used to the flavoured stuff at the minute so not using that as much.

1. i seem to be coughing up a fair bit of phlegm is this normal ?

2. Been reading up a bit on VG/PG ratio, whats your explanation of these ratios

cheers

Steve

Welcome to the forum!

1. Yes. The reason you're coughing up so much junk is because your body is starting to adapt to not smoking. You've been putting so many awful chemicals in your lungs for so long, and now that you're cutting back so much, you're getting rid of that crap.

2. So basically, there are four ingredients in e-liquid: flavoring, nicotine, PG and VG. PG is thinner than VG, so juice with a higher VG content will be thicker and won't wick as well. VG makes bigger clouds of vapor, that's why cloud chasers use high VG juice. PG carries flavor better than VG, so higher PG juice doesn't need as much flavoring and usually has stronger flavor. PG also has more "throat hit," which means juice with a high PG content will be more scratchy in your throat, while high VG juice will be smoother. Since high VG juice is so viscous, it should only be used in sub-ohm tanks that are made to handle it. With tanks that aren't made for high VG juice, you should use 70VG/30PG or lower, preferably closer to 50/50 since too high VG can cause dry hits.

Hope that answers your question, I have a tendency to over-explain things so if any of that didn't make sense or if you have any more questions feel free to ask Smile

Welcome to the forum Grumpy. Congratulations on cutting down your smoking with vaping. I wouldn't have been able to quit without it. You've found one of the best places to ask questions. Let me see if I can shine some light on yours.

1. The coughing happens, it is most likely your body adjusting to less smoking and the chemicals and tar that goes with it. Check out Allergies and Vaping thread, it covers some of the things you can expect.

2. The ratio is VG (Vegetable Glycerin) / PG (Propylene Glycol). VG is thick, and what makes clouds. PG is thin and can be harsh, however it is what carries the flavors. 70/30 is a common ratio, it allows for more clouds. Because this is a thick juice, you need to know if your tank and coil can handle thick juices.

EDIT: Michael got in before I finished writing. Same info, different words.
When you get the time you should check out the FAQ Sections. There are several articles on the vaping, I recommend the glossary, all the new terminology had me baffled.

Hi and welcome Grumpy!

Glad we don't have the issues vapers in Australia have.

Looks like you've had good answers already.
